How We Train
We start slow...
We teach movement first, then intensity.
Good mechanics let you train harder, stay consistent, and continue progressing over time. We’re not chasing quick results that lead to burnout—we’re building strength that lasts. At CrossFit Junkyard, every workout has an intent. Movements, weights, and volume are adjusted so each athlete trains with the right balance of technique and intensity. We train people to become capable across weightlifting, gymnastics, and conditioning—not just better at isolated exercises. Fitness should carry over into real life. Results don’t come from workouts alone. How you fuel your body matters just as much as how you train. Consistent training paired with simple, sustainable nutrition—focused on protein, vegetables, and whole foods—creates real change over time. Our goal isn’t just to make you fit. It’s to help you build a healthier lifestyle you can maintain for the long run.

CrossFit Junkyard's Story
I started CrossFit in 2011
.... and began coaching the following year. Not long after that, I entered my first competition at a small CrossFit gym in Birmingham, Alabama. That experience opened my eyes. I quickly realized how much I still had to learn—not just about training harder, but about training smarter. From that point forward, I became serious about understanding what actually helps people get stronger, move better, and stay healthy long term. I studied strength training, explored different fitness methods, and kept testing what worked and what didn’t—both for myself and the athletes I coached. Over the years, I competed in several events, eventually discovering that team competitions were where I performed best. My teammates and I went on to win Mayhem on the Mountain in 2017 and 2018, and we qualified for Wodapalooza in Miami in 2019. Competing at that level gave me a clearer perspective on what effective training really looks like—and what it shouldn’t look like. After Wodapalooza, I stepped away from CrossFit for a short time to explore other programs. What I found confirmed something I already suspected: many systems were missing key pieces. Some lacked structure. Others lacked coaching. And most didn’t develop well-rounded athletes the way CrossFit can when it’s applied the right way. I grew up playing sports and have always enjoyed helping people improve. Coaching was something I loved long before CrossFit Junkyard existed. Opening this gym was simply the next step—a chance to create the kind of training environment I believe people truly benefit from. One built on movement quality, consistency, accountability, and long-term progress. CrossFit Junkyard exists to help people train with purpose, build real strength, and develop habits that carry over into a healthier, more capable life outside the gym.
